Awarding of Occupational Health & Safety Management System certification (ISO 45001:2018) for Commodore Superintendent Dockyard (North) Organization.

As the first Naval organization the Commodore Superintendent Dockyard (North) organization has obtained the ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Management System Certificate. The certificate awarding ceremony for the Commodore Superintendent Dockyard (North) organization was held at Fort Hammenhiel Resort Karainagar on 21st July 2022. The Chief Guest, Dr (Mrs) Siddika Senarathne, Director General/ Chief Executive Officer of Sri Lanka Standards Institution and the Commander Northern Naval Area graced the occasion. Director Marine Engineering representing Naval Headquarters and Mrs SU Narangoda, the Deputy Director General Sri Lanka Standards Institution attended the event as the Guests of Honour along with an encouraging participation of Officers from Northern Naval Area.

This initiative is targeted at ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for all employees of CSD (N) organization, believing that most work related injuries and diseases are preventable. A zero accident target is aimed by eliminating hazards and reducing OH&S risks, through continual improvement with utmost consultation and participation of workers, whilst conforming to required legal and other OH&S requirements in both local and international. Commodore Superintendent Dockyard (North) staged up the organizational safety policy framework during the session which is instrumented at attaining optimum OH&S readiness.
