NAVY UPGRADES SHIP TO SHORE AND SHIP TO SHIP COMMUNICATION NETWORK
Sri Lanka Navy has undertaken an essential upgrade to ship to shore and ship to ship communication network based on Ultra High Frequency (UHF) secure technology with Motorola Radios and servers giving the much needed Automatic Vessel Locating System (AVLS) server and dispatcher controller upgrade with state of the art features, hardware and software versions.
The project consisted of replacing UHF repeaters around the country and Radios onboard Major Naval Ships in year 2021 & 2022. The next stage is due to be completed this year adding more radios to the network providing capability of Automatic Vessel Locating System to smaller Naval platforms such as Coastal Patrol Craft and Inshore Patrol Craft.
