NAVAL DOCKYARD IN EASTERN NAVAL COMMAND RECOGNIZED WITH CERTIFICATION OF ISO 45001:2018
The awarding of ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Management System certificate to the Naval Dockyard in Eastern Naval Command was held under the patronage of Commander Eastern Naval Area and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara, and with the attendance of the chief guest, Director General and Chief Executive Officer of Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) Dr. (Mrs.) Siddhika G Senarathne along with the guest of honour, Deputy Director General of SLSI Mrs NBD Neelakanthi at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium on 11th February 2023 amidst the eager participation of officers and sailors from the Eastern Naval Area.
The certification process involved a thorough evaluation of existing health and safety management systems, policies, and procedures of the engineering workshops of Naval Dockyard in Eastern Naval Command, followed by a series of audits to ensure that they were in compliance with the ISO 45001:2018 standard. Accordingly, the certification was awarded after the Naval Dockyard in Eastern Naval Command successfully demonstrated its commitment to implementing and maintaining best practices in occupational health and safety management, conforming to required legal and other OH&S requirements both locally and internationally, while ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for all employees of CSD (E) organization.
Commandant Naval and Maritime Academy, Rear Admiral Damian Fernando, Commodore Superintendent Dockyard (East) Commodore Harsha De Silva, Heads of Departments and a group of senior and junior officers from the Naval Headquarters and Eastern Naval Command were also present on this occasion.
