SRI LANKA SIGNAL CORPS INITIATES TECHNOLOGICAL SEMINAR SESSIONS AT AHQ
The Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC)-initiated the first symposium of the series of scheduled 'Technological Seminars', themed 'Precise Human - Technology Symmetry for Better Organizational Efficacy' was inaugurated on 22 Feb 2023 at the Multifunctional Hall at the Army Headquarters, headed by Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army as the Chief Guest.
The seminar series was initiated on a conceptual notion of the Commander of the Army and under the guidance of Major General H.M.L.D Herath RSP VSV USP psc, Chief Signal Officer (CSO). Major General D.G.S Senarath Yapa RWP RSP ndu, Deputy Chief of Staff, together with the CSO warmly welcomed the Army Chief at the entrance.
Afterward, the CSO delivered the welcome notes before the Army Chief made a few inaugural observations in the presence of the gathering. During the Commander of the Army speech, he emphasized the present information age, together with the overall technological advancements, has presented mankind with a tremendous amount of opportunities as well as challenges. Revolution in Military Affairs has redefined tactics and military strategies. As technology continues to progress, military forces must update as well. Sri Lanka Army, as the Land Force Component of the country, is not an exception to this reality. We need to seek, learn and adopt new technological advancements, to succeed in this complex security environment. Technology has brought incredible advancements in all aspects of the military that have allowed us to become more efficient and effective in our operations. On the other hand, let's not forget, our adversaries also will have the same advantage. Due to this, when we adopt and adapt to newer technological advancements, we need to be more swift and accurate than our adversaries. That is why; I highly commend this effort, which I regard as a timely initiative.
A few more than 160 island-wide Officers of all Army formations virtually joined the sessions.
Professor Sudath R. Munasinghe PhD conducted the first lecture of the first session under the topic 'Acquisition and Adoption of Advanced Communication Technology Enhances Organizational Efficiency'. The next contribution to the inaugural session was made by Dr Parakum Pathirana PhD on the theme, 'Mandatory Defence of Critical Military Infrastructure in the Cyber Domain to Launch National Cyber Operations'. The CO 12 SLSC as the third speaker dwelt on the topic, 'Military-Technology Status quo: Where We Are'.
Later, a question and answer session ensued before Major General K.A.W.S Ratnayake ndu, who conducted the final lecture on 'Recap and Link to Future - Revolutionary AI Applications re-demarcate Intelligence and Security'. Toward the end of the sessions, guest lecturers received tokens of appreciation from the CSO.
