CMETSL EMPOWERS 110 MILITARY ENGINEERS AND SENIOR TECHNICIANS WITH LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEM CHARACTERISTICS AND IT'S SPECIAL MILITARY APPLICATIONS, CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COURSE
The inaugural Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course of the Advanced Technology Sectional Committee (Advanced Technologies in Biomedical, Nano, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Internet of Things and Advanced Manufacturing Engineering) of College of Military Engineering and Technology Sri Lanka was successfully conducted on the topic of "Lightning Protection Systems and It's Special Military Applications" at the Admiral Somathilaka Dissanayake Auditorium, Navy Headquarters on 02nd August 2023. The Advanced Tech Sectional Committee has organized this CPD course for 50 Engineers from Army, 35 Electrical & Electronics Engineers/ Technicians from the Navy and 25 Engineers from the Air Force to enhance their theoretical and practical knowledge in designing, implementing, and maintaining lightning protection systems on military structures and equipment. Distinguished Professor of High Voltage Engineering at the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa, Professor Chandima Gomes conducted the course, whose knowledge and experience in this field being in top 2% of leading scientists in the world, played a pivotal role in achieving the desired output. With a wealth of experience in both academia and practical engineering, the lecturer's insights enriched the participants' understanding and inspired them to push the boundaries of their capabilities. CMETSL's commitment to professional development has undoubtedly strengthened the capabilities of the course participants and contributes immensely to a more robust and prepared military force.
