FABRICATION OF VEHICLES & EQUIPMENT
Being a technical Regiment in the Army, the Corps of EME has involved in vast array of fabrications catering the requirements of the Sri Lanka Army. To reach these heights, the Corps of EME has carried out many research work at various levels.
UNI-AVALON.
The Mine Resistance Ambush Protected Vehicle (MRAPV) is the latest version of Unicorn & Unibuffel for urban operations in present day scenarios. The technical improvement of this vehicle is in progress. This MRAPV is developed to overcome the difficulties experienced by Unibuffels in the desert terrain while performing duties in UN missions. The MRAPV is capable of relaying real-time information effectively from forward areas to operation commanders. The vehicle is built on 6 x 6 Chassis at the 403 SLEME Base Workshop Katubedda.
UNI-AVALON IN ACTION - EXERCISE "MITHRA SHAKTHI 2021".
Exercise Mithra Shakthi 2021. was held in SF HQ (East) area and Uni-Avalon was used as an advance reconnaissance & Operation Room. Along with Artillery Drone Regiment, it has been used to gather information on forward operational areas. Many of the Indian Army Officers and the Soldiers admired its performances, capabilities, manufacturing skills and its appearance.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENT MILITARY OPERATIONAL VEHICLE - (AIMOV).
at 403 SLEME Base Workshop. The purpose of this vehicle is to assist Special Force operations in urban areas. This is equipped with high tech devices to gather real-time information on operation ground and relay them to operation commanders.
AIMOV IN ACTION - EXERCISE "MITHRA SHAKTHI 2021".

UNICOLT MULTI PURPOSE CARGO TRUCKS, GULLY BOWSERS & WATER BOWSERS PROJECT.
There was a requirement of the Army to design and manufacture a vehicle with a unique military appearance, to cater for the Army transportation requirements. To make that concept a reality the Corps of EME has initially manufactured a prototype vehicle and obtained the approval from the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, for further continuation of the production. Due to the financial constraints, it was not possible to import chassis required to continue the production. Therefore, the Corps of EMEproposed to convert twenty-five Unicorns, which had been earmarked to discarded from the Army APV fleet. The estimated cost of procuring a new utility vehicle is approximately 8 - 12 million Rupees, whereas the Corps of EME could manufacture these vehicles with the cost of 4.5 - 6 million Rupees. UNICOLT FABRICTION PROCESS.
Unicorns proposed to be discarded were brought to 402 SLEME Base Workshop - Udawalawa and stripped into components. All the chassis were sand blasted and rebuilt with a new UniCOLT cabin. As per the transport requirements of the Army, these vehicles were converted to cargo type utility trucks, water bowsers and gully emptiers. At present, the selected Unicorns and other trucks are in the process of converting into UniCOLT.
AIMOV & UNICOLT IN SNOW RUNNER VIDEO GAMING PLATFORM.
The vehicle of AIMOV and UniCOLT are used in the Snow Runner International video gaming platform by giving a credit to the designers of these vehicles.
UNIFOAL - ELECTRIC CAR.
An eco-friendly, low-cost, electrically driven vehicle is presently under research & development process as a pipeline project to replace three-wheelers from the Defence Services. Presently this project is undertaken by the 3rd Regiment SLEME.
SHALLOW WATER PETROL CRAFT - RAPTER - 58.
501 Sri Lanka Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Factory - Kosgama has designed and fabricated a prototype shallow water craft for 58 Division as per the 'Army Way Forward Strategy 2020 - 2025'. Prototype boat fabricated on fiber glass moulds and tested successfully in the Negombo lagoon. This shallow water craft is specially designed to broaden the spectrum of surveillance activities to mitigate the illegal fishing, drug trafficking and human smuggling. This craft is named as 'Rapter-58'.

BOAT CARRIER.

HORSE CARRIER VEHICLE.
Tata LPT 709 truck is modified as a specially designed vehicle to transport sick horses for treatments. This was modified and fabricated by 2nd (V) Regiment SLEME.
