FLOOD MONITORING SYSTEM
The flood warning system incorporates with telemetered rainfall and water level data measurements at various locations in the catchment area. The effectiveness of this management system is mainly depended on the real-time data collection and transmitting to the required centers. Electrical New Design Centre (E) has developed a system with low-power/long-range automatic data gathering and reliable transmission to center location for effective flood management.
The system consists of remote data collecting and transmitting stations, main monitoring station and it can intergrade multiple remote data transmitting stations up to 25 Stations. The system is based on microcontrollers. Water levels and flow rates of flooding sources are measured by ultrasonic/flow sensors, processed by microcontroller and transmitted separately through GSM technology to a central monitoring system. A graphical user interface is developed at the central monitoring system to indicate water/flow levels of each remote station in real time. Project Cost was LKR 342,000.00.
