I Have received my primary education from Mahanama College, Kollupitiya and secondary education from Royal College, Colombo. Having qualified from my Advanced Level examination in 1988, I have enlisted to the Intake 7 of Kotelawala Defence Academy on 14 November 1989. After the successful completion of Academic and Military training at Kotelawela Defence Academy and Sri Lanka Military Academy, I was commissioned on 14 November 1991 and posted to the Sri Lanka Corps Engineers. Soon after the commissioning I again joined the Kotelawala Defence Academy and completed my first degree, BSc (Defence Studies) in Civil Engineering. During my past 33 years of service, I have held numerous Command, Staff and Instructor appointments in Sri Lanka Army such as Commander of 551 Infantry Brigade, Commander of General Engineering Brigade, Commanding Officer of 8 Field Engineer Regiment, Commanding Officer of 4 (Volunteer) Regiment, Sri Lanka Engineers, Secretary of National Defence College, Colonel (Commander’s Secretariat) at Army Commander’s Secretariat, Colonel (General Staff) at Army Training Command and Head of the Training Team, Officers’ Study Center, Diyatalawa. In addition, I have completed one year tenure as a Military Staff Officer in the United Nation’s Stabilisation Mission, Haiti in year 2014/15. I have followed number of important military and civil courses in Sri Lanka and besides the courses followed in Sri Lanka; I have followed Engineer Young Officers’ Course in Bangladesh, Engineer Officers’ Combat Engineer Instructor Course in India, Engineer Officers’ Mid-Career Course in Pakistan, International Humanitarian Demining Training Course in China, Netherlands Defence Orientation Course in Netherlands and Higher Defence Management Course in India. I am a graduate from the Army Command and Staff College, Sri Lanka and hold the title ‘psc’ and also from College of Defence Management, Hyderabad, India and hold the title 'Hdmc'. Further I have obtained my first Masters’ Degree, Master of Business Administration, from the Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo and second Masters’ Degree, Master of Management Studies, from the University of Osmania in Hyderabad, India. I am an Affiliated Member of the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL) and Member of the Engineer Council of Sri Lanka (ECSL).
