Rear Admiral KWARI Ranasinghe, an old boy of the Ananda College Colombo, joined Sri Lanka Navy on 15th September 1989 as an officer cadet of the 19th intake of the Sri Lanka Navy and was commissioned on 15th September 1991 as an Acting Sub Lieutenant. On completion of basic military training, officer was privileged to follow Basic Engineering Course (BEC) at Naval College of Engineering at INS Shivaji, India. He has completed the training with outstanding performance in academic subjects and as a result RAdm (E) KWARI Ranasinghe was awarded B.Tech (Mechanical) degree with first class by Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He was later specialized in Marine Engineering after successful completion of Marine Engineering Specialization Course at Centre of Marine Engineering Technology at INS Shivaji, Lonovla, India. He was awarded engine room watch keeping competency by the Commander of the Navy after successful training onboard SLNS Abeetha. He has followed large number of career development training in India, Singapore, USA, UK, Malaysia, Israel, Germany and Netherlands. He has followed Post Graduate Diploma programme on maintenance management at NIBM in 2003 to 2004. He followed Defence Services Command and Staff Course, Malayasia (psc) and awarded Post Graduate Diploma on Strategic & Defence Studies by University of Malaya in year 2006. He also completed MBA in Technology Management at University of Moratuwa from year 2011 to 2013 & Course on Human Resource Management at Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration. Considering his academic and professional qualifications as well as experience he was awarded with Doctor of Business Administration by the American National Business University in 2022. He has held vital and key staff and command appointments of Sri Lanka Navy including Commodore Superintendent Dockyard West, North & North Central, Deputy Director Marine Engineering, Director Engineering Service and Director Marine Engineering. Rear Admiral KWARI Ranasinghe was appointed as Director General Engineering on 10th July 2017 and promoted to present rank on 20th April 2018. He is presently holding appointment as Director General Engineering of the Marine Engineering branch which has 440 Engineers with 8,500 work forces and performing as the Principal adviser to the Commander of the Navy on Engineering matters and need of the Marine Engineering branch. He is a recipient Uttama Sewa Padakkama (USP) for meritorious and distinguished service. He is also recipient of Purna Bhumi Padakkama, Riviresa Campaign Service Medal, Vadamarachchi Operational Medal, Sri Lanka Armed Services Long Service Medal, 50th Independence Anniversary Commendation Medal, Sri Lanka Navy 50th Anniversary Medal, North and East Operational medal, North and East Humanitarian Medal and Commendation badge from the Commander of the Navy. Further, Rear Admiral KWARI Ranasinghe is a distinguished Fellow Member of Institute of Engineers, Sri Lanka, Institutions of Engineers, India, Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology, UK. He is also a chartered engineer in Sri Lanka, India and UK. He has been commended two times by the Commander of the Navy for his outstanding performance of the duty and exceptional contributions to the Sri Lanka Navy. Rear Admiral KWARI Ranasinghe is married to Mrs. Manori Mudannayake and they are blessed with a Son Oshada and a Daughter Malisha.
