I am a native of Colombo who was enlisted to then Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy in 1981 and got graduated from KDA/University of Moratuwa in the year 1985. Having got posted to the Corps of Signals in the Army, I initially served as a Troop Commander at the Signal Base Workshop then Officer Commanding, Second in Command of a Divisional Signal Regiment and then was appointed as the Commanding officer of 3rd Signal Regiment in the year 1999. Serving away from the Corps as a staff officer I was initially posted as a Brigade Major of an Infantry Brigade and then as General Staff Officer I (Operations) of an Infantry Division then as the Colonel General Staff of Overall Operations Command in the Northern Theatre. Then I got posted to the Army Command and Staff College as a Member of the Directing Staff and subsequently held the appointments as the Commander 516 Infantry Brigade, Commandant Signals Regimental Centre, Brigadier General Staff of Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna), Commander Signal Brigade, General Officer Commanding 57 Infantry Division (Kilinochchi), Chief Signal Officer and Colonel Commandant Corps of Signals.

• Presently serving as the Director General Centre for Defence Research and Development, Project Director of Strategic Defence Communication Network and as a member of Board of Directors of Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (SLCERT) under Ministry of Defence.
• Served as the Director General of Research, Analysis, Projection & Development Branch, Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps and Chief Signal Officer of the Sri Lanka Army at the time of retirement from the Sri Lanka Army.
• Over 30 years of experience in the Electronics and Telecommunication field within the Army with international exposure in the form of professional training and multinational exercises
• Initiated and implemented the largest government owned Data and Voice Network in the Army.
• Spearheaded and implemented an e-Government solution for the Sri Lanka Army to eliminate paper-based work.
• Initiated and in the process of implementing a nationwide Strategic Defence Communication Network for the SL Army, Navy, Air Force, Special Task Force, Police including Disaster Management Centre which would interconnect all security establishments in the country.
• Initiated and spearheaded the Antenna Mast Project/Mobile Communication Network Project of 100 self-supporting towers within the newly liberated areas in order to provide much required communication facilities for the resettled people and Security Forces along with Dialog Axiata and Mobitel.
• Spearheaded the technical team in planning and proposing the ICT Solution for the upcoming Defence Headquarters Complex at Akuregoda, Battaramulla.
• Spearheaded the overall communication planning and execution during the final Humanitarian Operation for the entire Army in coordination with Navy and Air Force.
• Over 30 years of experience in handling high intensity operational communication requirements in different capacities including emergency troops deployments for maintenance of communication related Essential Services, Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Management/Recovery Operations.
• Soundly qualified and goal oriented with excellence in Operations Management and Relationship Management.
• Demonstrates expert skills at envisioning the future, inspiring and motivating teams through innovative thinking, initiating and nurturing strategic alliances, formulating and deploying effective new strategies as indicated by the success of the ICT developments of the Sri Lanka Army.
