Sri Lanka Defence forces consist of a large number of personnel specialized in almost all aspects of the engineering field together with a vast amount of equipment that is of the state-of-the-art technology.

This engineering personnel possess a colossal knowledge in their respective fields that were built upon enormous experience gathered by working under various demanding conditions and limitations. The highly demanding nature of military exertions has provided these leaders with unparalleled engineering knowledge, sharpened technical decision-making capability, multi-tasking ability and effective resource management. To achieve national goals, professional collaboration between each service is essential because they each work in a different context. With the caliber of capabilities possessed by these officers and men, the synergizing effect that could be created by facilitating them to work under harmonic common conditions that include sharing resources and knowledge would be enormous. Such an outcome could play a major contribution to the development of professional standards and battle readiness of Sri Lankan Armed Forces in addition to the positive contribution for the accelerated development projects of the government. College of Military Engineering and Technology Sri Lanka (CMETSL) is a professional institute among Sri Lanka's Army, Navy, and Air Force Engineers established under the Ministry of Defence to achieve such a desirable output.
