CMETSL's Maiden Military Engineering and Technology Conference: Igniting Pathways for Future Collaborative Ventures

The College of Military Engineering and Technology Sri Lanka (CMETSL) hosted its inaugural Military Engineering and Technology Conference on 16 February 2024, at the Wave N' Lake Navy Banquet Hall in Welisara. General Kamal Guneratne (Retd) WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc MPhil, the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, graced the occasion as the chief guest and Notable attendees included the Chief of Defence Staff, the Commander of the Navy, the Commander of the Air Force, The Vice Chancellor KDU, Chief of Staff of the Army, other distinguished invitees and tri-forces Engineers. emphasizing the indispensable role of technology in shaping future military operations.

In a momentous gesture, the Defence Secretary presented honorary CMETSL membership certificates to distinguished retired senior tri-forces officers during the ceremony. Dr. Sanjiva Weerawarna, the founder, chairman and The CEO of WSO2, one of the largest software companies in Sri Lanka, delivered the keynote speech, followed by the address of the chief guest.

Themed "Engineering for the Future: Managing Modern Challenges in Military Technology and Engineering," the conference facilitated crucial discussions on cutting-edge advancements, security challenges, and the imperative of innovation in modern defense.
At the conclusion of the CMETSL Annual General Meeting, following the conference, Brigadier GLSW Liyanage assumed the role of President of CMETSL. Rear Admiral Ravi Ranasinghe, the Director General Engineering of the Navy, bestowed the responsibility of the appointment upon him during the proceedings.
