About Me
Major General Samantha Wickramasena (Retired) RWP RSP VSV USP Hdmc psc has completed an unblemished service of thirty-four (34) years in the Army prior to his retirement on 11 August 2022. He holds BSc (Defence) in Mechanical Engineering from Kotelawala Defence University and Master’ degree in Management Studies (MMS) from Osmania University, India. Also, he has received a Diploma in Senior Level Defence Management from the University of Indore, India. Further, he has graduated from Army Command and Staff College, Batalanda, Sri Lanka. Samantha Wickramasena is a proud product of Royal College, Colombo 07. His command tenure comprises several distinguished command appointments including General Officer Commanding of Infantry Divisions and Brigade Commander of Infantry Brigades. He has held many key Staff appointments in the Army too. During the peak of the final humanitarian operation, he commanded the 10 Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry of victorious 57 and 58 Divisions. Also, he possesses one year of foreign service as a Military Observer in the United Nations Mission in Eritrea and Ethiopia. He has attended many overseas courses, workshops, and seminars of professional value. Major General Samantha Wickramasena (Retired) has been adorned with five gallantry awards( 3 X RWPs and 2 X RSPs) for his bravery and eminent service on the battlefield. He is married to Mrs. Lanka Pradeepika Jayalath (Attorney at Law) and blessed with two daughters Venuri and Lakdini.
